The recording of piano works by Julian Fontana, F. Chopin's friend and pupil as well as piano pieces by Theodor Leschetizky for Acte Préalable Label (2007, 2008) was a significant moment in Hubert Rutkowski's career. In the Chopin Year 2010, he recorded for NAXOS Label a CD "Pupils of Chopin" with piano works composed by Chopin's pupils. Since then, he has been giving performances in most countries in Europe, Asia, Latin American and the USA. Hubert Rutkowski performed at the Schleswig Holstein Music Festival, The "Rarities of Piano Music" Festival in Husum Castle in Germany, Polish Piano Festival in Słupsk and at the Artur Rubinstein Festival in Łódź, Poland.
The pianist is a graduate of the Chopin Academy of Music in Warsaw in the class of professor Anna Jastrzebska-Quinn. Studies within the scope of chamber music he has completed with professor Krystyna Borucinska. Having finished studies, he pursued doctoral studies there under the direction of professor Alicja Paleta-Bugaj. Between 2005-2010, he completed master postgraduate studies at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Hamburg in the class of professor Evgeni Koroliov.
Hubert Rutkowski won the International Chopin Piano Competition in Hannover (2007). He received also the distinction "Medalla per Unanimitat" at the International Maria Canals Piano Competition in Barcelona (2006), 1st prize at the National Piano Competition in Warsaw (2000) as well as 3rd prize at the International Chopin Piano Competition in Vilnius (1999).
Since a few years Hubert Rutkowski has been passionate about historic pianos from XIX century. He works, as a pianist and a teacher, with Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe in Hamburg. He organizes there a series of concerts on instruments from Andreas Beuermann's collection.
Hubert Rutkowski is a founder and President of the Theodor Leschetizky Music Society in Warsaw. He is also the Artistic Director of both Chopin Society in Hamburg-Sachsenwald and German Polish Music Piano Competition in Hamburg.
Since April 2010 he has served as a professor at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Hamburg as one of the youngest professors in this university. Since November 2011, Hubert Rutkowski has been leading also his piano class at the Hochschule für Künste in Bremen.
